A slow-growing deciduous tree with a low-branching growth habit. Circular, multi-lobed leaves emerge bright red in spring and turn yellow-green in summer. Fall foliage is a showy display of orange-yellow-red. Reddish-purple spring flowers give way to red samaras, which point upward. More sun-tolerant than 'Aureum.' Can tolerate full shade. Needs slightly acidic soil, pH 5.5 - 6.5.
