Botanical Name: Acer palmatum 'Koto No Ito'

Common Name: Koto No Ito Japanese Maple, Dancing Monkey Tree

A wispy-leaved deciduous tree. Palmate leaves with long and thin lobes emerge bright green in spring and turn crimson to gold in the fall. Insignificant spring flowers are followed by pairs of samaras. Called 'Dancing Monkey Tree' for the way the leaves dance in the wind. Needs slightly acidic soil.
