Common Name: Montrose Purple Chaste Tree, Monk's Pepper

A deciduous shrub or small tree with a rounded to vase-shaped growth habit. Aromatic, gray-green leaves are palmately divided into finger-like lobes with fuzzy undersides. From summer to fall, fragrant, upright flower spikes bloom in deep violet-blue, followed by small, dark berries. Attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, and honey bees. Can be deadheaded to proliferate blooms. Known for medicinal qualities.
