A deciduous tree with an upright columnar form and shallowly toothed, oval leaves with wavy margins. Foliage emerges pruple, turns deep green with purple margins in the summer, and eventually shades of bright orange-yellow to scarlet in the fall. Exfoliating smooth gray and white bark.
