Common Name: Wildfire Black Gum Tree, Black Tupelo

A deciduous tree with an attractive horizontal branching structure. Glossy leaves emerge bright red in spring, turn green in summer, and mature to reddish-purple in fall. Small, dark blue fruits are produced if a male tree is nearby. Fruit is edible, yet very sour. Flowers and berries are beneficial to pollinators, birds, and other wildlife. Native to the eastern U.S.
