Common Name: California Melic Grass

A cool-season bunchgrass that forms a clump of bright green leaf blades. Without irrigation in hot summers, foliage turns gold and regenerates green in winter. Spikes of silvery, papery flowerheads rise up in summer. Does well under oaks and in dry shade. California native.
