Botanical Name: Magnolia x loebneri 'Leonard Messel'

Common Name: Leonard Messel Magnolia

A small deciduous tree with a compact, multi-stemmed, round form. Leaves are broad and mid-green. In early spring, slightly fragrant flowers cover the branches before leaf-out. Flowers are star-shaped with strappy petals, and purple-pink with a white interior. Seedy, cone-like fruits follow. Attracts birds.
