A small deciduous tree with a dwarf, vase-like form. Leaves are broad and mid-green. Foliage turns yellow-bronze in fall. In late spring, lightly fragrant flowers cover the branches before leaf-out. Flowers are huge and cup-shaped with pinkish-white on the inside and fuchsia-purple on the outside. Occasionally reblooms in summer. Seedy, cone-like fruits follow. Attracts birds.
