An evergreen shrub with red, upright stems and a dense, bushy form. Fine, linear leaves are gray-green. Male plants produce bright yellow pom-pom flowerheads. Female plants produce cones in soft gray-pink. Blooms at branch tips in winter and spring. Long-lasting cut flower. Likes acidic soils. Does not tolerate phosphorous fertilizers.
