A hybrid bay, this evergreen tree forms a broad, rounded crown. Wide leaves can be used like true bay in the kitchen. Small yellow flowers appear in spring, but it sets little fruit. It also resists the leaf pests that bother bay. Use it as a tall hedge, screen, or small shade tree.
