Botanical Name: Tipuana tipu

Common Name: Tipu Tree

A semi-deciduous flowering tree with a stout, shade-giving, umbrella crown and a single trunk. Lengthy compound leaves are divided into many oblong, light green leaflets. Flowers are frilly, lipped, and peachy yellow. Blooms from late spring through summer. Papery wing-shaped fruit swirls like helicopter blades when tossed in the air.
