A tropical perennial with a fountain-shaped growth habit. Leathery, blue-green leaves are broad, up to 4 feet long and resemble banana leaves. Large bird-like flowers display grayish heads, golden-orange combs, and royal blue beaks. Blooms from fall to spring. Commonly grown indoors.
