A deciduous shrub with sprawling branches. Leaves are glossy green and lobed. Foliage turns red in fall. Small spring flowers are yellow to red, and are followed by tasty, edible berries in summer. Attracts birds. Native to California. Ribes aureum yields some of the best berries for human consumption.
