Common Name: Golden Currant

A stout deciduous shrub with upright, arching branches. Leaves are light green and lobed. Foliage turns red in fall. Small spring flowers are fragrant, yellow, and are followed by tasty, edible berries in summer. Attracts birds. Fruit production may be low in mild climates. Native to California. Ribes aureum yields some of the best berries for human consumption.
