A deciduous, tall shade tree with a straight trunk and broad crown for parks and other large sites. Yellow-green, tulip-like flowers have orange bands and feed bees and hummingbirds. Cone-like seed clusters follow, and green leaves turn gold in fall. Native to eastern North America, it grows best in deep, moist, well-drained, slightly acid soil.
