Common Name: Carter's Sunburst Camellia

An understory evergreen shrub with a compact growth habit. Flowers are midsize, semi-double, and formal or peony form. Petals are pale pink with dark pink stripes. Stamens are golden yellow. Blooms from October to May in California. Leaves are leathery, medium green, and have finely serrated edges. Can tolerate full shade. Needs acidic soil, pH 5.1 - 6.0.
