A hairy-stemmed fern with a clumping, slowly-spreading growth habit. Deep-green, leathery, diamond to fan-shaped pinnules are held together by dark, wiry stems. New growth is rosy-pink. Place in a shady, moist, and well-drained site. Thrives best in humusy soil. Appreciates humidity. Deciduous in the temperate climates of USDA zones 8 - 10; evergreen in semi-tropical to tropical climates.
