Common Name: Giant Sacaton, Dropseed

A semi-evergreen perennial grass that forms a large clump of long, arching leaf blades. Grayish green foliage fades to yellow-beige by winter. Wispy summer flowers bloom in hazy plumes of tan-gold. Birds and some mammals enjoy the seeds. Deep root systems aid in erosion control. Native to the Southwestern U.S., including California.
