An evergreen perennial that forms a low, upright bush. Slender, velvety leaves are gray-blue-green. Bronze-gold inflorescences display showy bracts that cup tiny true flowers. Blooms in large clusters atop stems throughout spring. Attracts butterflies. All plant parts contain a toxic milky sap.
