An understory evergreen shrub with a vigorous, upright growth habit. Flowers are large to midsize, peony form, and resemble pom-poms. Petals are delicate pale pink. Blooms from October to March in California. Leaves are leathery, dark green, and have finely serrated edges. Can tolerate full shade. Needs acidic soil, pH 5.1 - 6.0.
