An upright, weeping deciduous tree with a mounding form. Lacy, deeply-lobed palmate leaves divide into 7 to 11 pointed lobes. Leaves are deep purple and turn bright red in the fall. Inconspicuous spring flowers are followed by pairs of samaras. Needs slightly acidic soil, pH 5.5 - 6.5.
