Fresh off the Truck Fridays: January 10, 2020

January 10, 2020

Welcome back and happy New Year Devil Mountaineers!

Before we dive into our first post of the decade(!), we would like to highlight one of our newest favorites – Daphne odoraMarianni.’

‘Marianni’ is a charming winter bloomer and very similar in appearance to both ‘Aureo-Marginata’ and ‘Maejima‘ – however this Daphne presents more boldly variegated foliage. Creamy yellow borders line each leaf and contrast against an emerald green center, creating an dramatic effect when planted en masse. Blush pink to lavender colored flowers bloom from late winter into early spring and offer an intensely pervasive perfume. ‘Marianni’ is grown more readily as a hardier, new cultivar – as it is resistant to colder temperatures and has a more disease-resistant root system.
